Radio-frequency Radiation Research Laboratory

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) offers Antenna and Wireless Communication testing services using the SG 128 multi-probe antenna test system and radio communication instruments. It is CTIA compliant and supports both TIS (Total Isotropic Sensitivity) and TRP (Total Radiated Power) measurements. It is ideal for testing performed on mobile terminals (phones, PDAs, laptops, etc.), base station antennas (CDMA, UMTS, WiFi, WiMAX, RFID), automotive antennas. All testing is conducted by experienced engineers extremely familiar with radio communication standards and Carrier requirements.





Main equipments list

  • Antenna Test System: with 128 electrically scanning probes, probe array controller, signal generator and receiver, cover 400 MHz to 6 GHz
  • Over The Air Test System: with 128 electrically scanning probes, probe array controller, active measurement test unit and communication test set
  • Analog Signal Generator : two set of 250 kHz ~ 20 GHz, one set of 40 GHz
  • Digital Signal Generator: one set of 4 GHz, one set of 6 GHz, with RF modulation bandwidth up to 35 MHz, dual arbitrary waveform generator and real-time I/Q base band generator, custom digital modulation (>15 variations of FSK, MSK, PSK, and QAM)
  • Spectrum Analyzer: one set of 50 kHz ~ 22 GHz, one set of 30 Hz to 26.5 GHz with EMI option
  • EMI Receiver: one set of 9 kHz to 2.9 GHz, one set of 9 kHz to 6.5 GHz
  • Vector Signal Analyzer: one set of 26.5 GHz, with basic vector signal analysis, flexible modulation analysis, a bundle of cdma2000, 1xEV-DO, WCDMA/HSDPA, TD-SCDMA, dynamic link to ADS, IEEE 802.16-2004 OFDM modulation analysis, 802.16e modulation analysis, 802.11n MIMO modulation nalysis
  • Vector Network Analyzer: one set of 300 kHz to 8.5 GHz with 2 ports, one set of 300 kHz to 8.5 GHz with 4 ports, one set of 10 MHz ~ 50 GHz with 2 ports
  • Communication Test: for W-CDMA, HSDPA, cdma2000,1xEV-DO, IS-95, GSM, GPRS, EGPRS, TIA/EIA-136, and AMPS mobile phone testing
  • Wireless Connectivity Test Set: for Bluetooth and WLAN
  • All kinds of communication antennas and measurement antennas

  • The SG128 is one of the fastest and most accurate antenna test systems in the industry, with measurement times under 30 seconds for passive TRP measurements and under 5 minutes for active TRP measurements.
  • The SG128 is able to perform real world testing. The max sample allowable weight is over 250 pounds. An evaluation using real humans is now a reality.
